First, ignore the whole numbers and come back to them later. Add the numerators which is 5+9= 14. Keep the common denominator the same so it would equal 14/10. Make 14/10 into a mixed number which is 1 4/10. Simplify the 4/10 to 2/5 so now you have 1 2/5. Now come back to the whole numbers 4+6= 10. Finally add 10+1 2/5. Your answer is 11 2/5.
