This equation in 2 variables doesn't have a "solution."  Rather, you can solve it for either x or y, but that's not a "solution" in the usual sense.

Example:  8x-5y=-25, when solved for x, becomes first 8x = 5y-25 and then
       5(y-5)
x = -----------
           8

You could solve
8x-5y=-25 for y in a similar fashion.
