Multiply the term in parentheses by its coefficient:

[tex]4(6 + 2n) = 4 * 6 + 4 * 2n = 24 + 8n[/tex]

[tex]4 - (24 + 8n) = -28[/tex]

[tex]4 - 24 - 8n = -28[/tex]

Combine like terms:

[tex]-20 - 8n = -28[/tex]

Add 20 to both sides:

[tex]-8n = -8[/tex]

Divide both sides by -8 to get n by itself:

[tex]n = 1[/tex]

The value of n is 1.
