why is 9-(-1)=10 I need help

The answer is 10 because when you subtract negatives, you're basically adding them. It's like inverse operation in a way. Think of the 9 as +9. That would mean that -1 would also have to be --1. It's not possible to have a double negative integer, and therefore you need to add.
