Scale of a map says that 4 cm represents 5 km, what distance on the map in centimeters represents an actual distance in kilometers

We are given

Scale of a map says that 4 cm represents 5 km

It means that

[tex] 4cm=5km [/tex]

now, we want distance for 1cm

so, we can divide both sides by 4

[tex] \frac{4}{4} cm=\frac{5}{4}km [/tex]

[tex] 1cm=1.25km [/tex]

each 1 cm on the map is 1.25 km on the  map..........Answer
