Why didn’t the US join WWI when war first broke out in 1914?

Answer: The US was attempting to stay neutral throughout the war.

Explanation: I believe the United States did not want to get involved with the war because they did not see war to be a good place for them to be in at the moment, with that said, the US attempted to stay neutral by either helping no one or by helping either side.
