Divide 5 gallons by 2/5 to find the number of 2/5’s in 5:

5 / 2/5 = 5 x 5 /2 = 25/2 = 12 1/2

Now multiply the number of 2/5’s by 8 miles:

12 1/2 x 8 = 100 total miles
