Following the defeat of Ming dynasty by the Qin dynasty, around 1645 the Han Chinese Qing army which was under the command of Han Chinese Ming defector Liu Liangzuo, was commanded to show loyalty before surrendering.

To show this loyalty he was commanded to kill his people, in which he did by killing nearly 100,000 of his own people in the name of the Qing.
