Neurofibromatosis 1 has an autosomal dominant inheritance pattern.

Unlike other types of autosomal dominant conditions, for which one copy of the dominant gene is enough to express the trait/ sickness, for this condition the individual should carry both dominant alleles to trigger the formation of the tumors.
