we have the function

g(x)=(x/3)+2 ---------> interval (-infinite, 1)

g(x)=4x-2 ------> interval [1, infinite)

the given function is not one-to -one function, because don't pass the Horizontal Line Test.

Example

For the horizontal line

y=2

we have the values of

x=0 ---------> g(x)=(x/3)+2

and

x=1 -----------> g(x)=4x-2

that means

two elements in the domain of g(x) correspond to the same element in the range of g(x)

therefore

the function is not one to one
