This is known as the Battle of the Bulge or Ardennes Counteroffensive. It was the last major German offensive of WWII. It took place from December 16th 1944 thru January 25, 1945 in the Western Front. It was an unsuccessful attempt by the Germans to push the Allies back from German home territory.
