Prokaryotes are single celled organisms with no specialized organelles and they are mainly composed of bacteria and archaea.

Prokaryotes are cells without a nucleus or organelles. Examples of organisms with prokaryotic cells are bacteria. All prokaryotes do contain cytoplasm, cell membranes, ribosomes, and DNA.
