Why was D-Day plan so risky?

D-Day plan was risky because if we made one little mistake in the plan, all of our soldiers would be dead or captured, and that of course would be devastating. It was also risky because there was a large chance that the germans would find out our location, that the germans might counteract, and that there would be terrible weather(this would make the waves larger therefore the ships dangerous)
