Evaluate 8 − 12 ÷ 2 + 3.

Because of the order of operation, you would first do the division, which makes the expression 8-6+3. Now you would perform them left to right, first into 2+3, then get your answer of 5.

You must solve this in the order of PEMDAS
That means solving in the order below
Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, then Subtraction. 

So let divide first.
12 ÷ 2 = 6 
Now we have 
8 - 6 + 3
Add next, 
8 - 9 
Then subtract 
8 - 9 = -1 
Your answer is -1
