If x is the number,

[tex] \sqrt{x} -(- \sqrt{x} )=30[/tex]

(The difference or distance between two numbers is the larger one minus the smaller one.)

[tex]2 \sqrt{x} =30 \\ \sqrt{x} =15 \\ (\sqrt(x))^2=15^2 \\ x=225[/tex]
