Scandium through zinc belong to the general class of elements called TRANSITION METALS.
Transition metals refers to those elements in the D block of the periodic table; these include group three to twelve of the periodic table. From group 3 to 12, the elements are 38 in number and all of them are malleable, ductile and they can conduct heat.
