how would i solve this -8x + 5 > 11?

-8x + 5 > 11
-8x  > 6
 8x < -6
   x < -6/8
   x < -3/4

Subtract 5 from one side to the other, leaving you with -8x > 6
Divide 6 by -8
Because -8 is a negative number, you switch the sign, leaving you with:
