If this is about how many gallons Roger would have, then he would have 1.5    (1 & 1/2) gallons of water. You get this by multiplying 2/12 by 9 and then simplifying it.

Since one pitcher is 2/12 of a gallon and you have 9 pitchers, do 2/12 times 9/1 and you get 1 and 6/12 which simplifies to 1 and 1/2. Hope this helps!
